Fun story. Though it always irks me that the twins had the Map as long as they did and never noticed a supposedly dead man in the same bed as Ron. Forgetting Pettigrew, you'd think they be interested in whoever was in the same bunk as their little brother when he was 11 and 12.

A nice one of fic. It was an entertaining 'what if'.

I believe that harry knew hermione was a girl but he didn't expect how attractive physically and emotionally hermione was, and didn't expect to fall for his best friend

This is a good story

I read the story for I wonder how bad Ron would look in it

A very nice alternate look at things and how they might have gone. I rather appreciate how Harry's initial step, there, started the development of his regard for Hermione in a whole different way. I wonder how Tom reacted when he found out that Barty, Jr., had been caught or was his first awareness when the team swooped down on his lair and captured him?

I can see Ron easing away from Harry & Hermione partly from hurt pride and partly because he didn't have a girlfriend, and was unlikely to have one for some time. Somehow I suspect that Harry & Hermione's use of the Prefects' Bath took a route of reduced coverage swimsuits before abandoning them entirely. That could make for some interesting times by itself.

If Harry's gilled when coming out of the lake, would he be able to speak when above water?

Chem Prof replied:

I thought about that for a while. But in the book, he speaks several times underwater and bubbles come out. Which means air is passing over his vocal cords, even though he's 'breathing' through his gills. You can either consider it another mistake by JKR or some special magical effect of gillyweed. I needed him to be able to talk, so I chose the latter.

Standing ovations.
Very nice and rather suitably low keyed. No super anywhere, and no real changes from canon at that point. You just subtracted some strategic stupidity and allowed the story to play out to a reasonable, almost logical conclusion. Bravo!
Bravo!

A very enjoyable tale :D It's always interesting to read these alternate moments of GoF... so many openings for change.

Did you just imply that Hermione cheated on Harry with another girl in your author's note? O.o

Chem Prof replied:

No, that was not something I intended to imply. But perhaps they gave her 'advice' about things she could do with Harry. And possibly offered to assist her? I leave it to readers to decide for themselves.
