Novel Length (greater than 200k words)
Notebooks and Letters, originally posted on fanfiction.net in 2007 and 2008, is the last of my three novel-length Harry Potter fanfiction stories. Coming in at about 300,000 words, it is a retelling of the last three books of the series.
The premise is that Hermione kept a series of journals documenting her years at Hogwarts, and sold these to a book publisher, who then forwarded them to JKR (the unnamed author in the story) to use as source material for the story that she had already started writing. While the first 4 books stuck very close to Hermione's notes, the tale began to diverge with Book 5, eventually becoming quite different from what 'really happened'.
The challenge in writing this was to come up with a different plot, but one with enough common elements that it can readily be seen how it was 'adapted' by JK to create the published version.
The mechanism for telling this story is that Hermione first reads the books to her daughter Rose, then gets out her old notebooks and a collection of letters to reveal to her what actually occurred. The story finishes by coming back to the current time, tying the two tales together with (eventually) a happy ending.
Original Summary - The 'true' version of Books 5, 6, and 7, as told by Hermione to her daughter years later, using her old journals and letters between her and Harry.
Hermione's Plan is my second novel length fanfic, and based on the numbers, appears to be my most popular story. Like my first story, Soul Searching/End Game, it is a hypothetical Book 7, beginning immediately upon the conclusion of Half Blood Prince. One notable distinction is that is told almost exclusively from Hermione's point of view rather than Harry's. It was completed less than a month prior to the release of JKR's Book 7, Deathly Hallows. (So nothing that was revealed in that book is reflected in this story.)
Original Summary: The shock of Dumbledore’s death plus some unexpected news cause Hermione to reflect on her decisions and actions of the previous year. She resolves to do what she should have done in the first place. Unabashedly Harry/Hermione.
Soul Searching is my first Harry Potter fanfic, written right after Half Blood Prince came out. It begins immediately following HBP and goes through the summer. Besides searching for Horcruxes, the focus is on the relationship between Harry and Hermione. They are the main characters, but it's not necessarily a romantic relationship. The Harry/Ginny romance continues in the background.
The sequel, End Game, continues the tale through the trio's 7th year and the final battle with Voldemort. The relationship focus continues. Harry must deal with the problem of having two girls in love with him and the realization that he has feelings for both of them. Ultimately, it could end any one of three ways - H/G, H/Hr, or H/Both.
The two parts were originally posted separately, but I'm combining them here, since together they comprise one complete story.
Multi Chapter Short Stories
What if Hermione’s parents had pulled her out of Hogwarts after she was nearly killed by a basilisk in her second year? How would Harry have managed without her?
What if Harry had reacted more strongly to the Ministry's threat to expel him and snap his wand? What if he had fled the country rather than submit to the trial?
Continuation of What If? ... Another Goblet Of Fire Alternative.
Many fanfics speculate about what would have happened if Harry had asked Hermione to the Yule Ball. Or what if he had taken Ginny to the Ball? Here's a twist. What if he had done both? And what else in the story might have changed as a result?
An early morning talk between Harry and Hermione about how their lives are going leads to some decisions. Set after the final battle in book 7.
Post DH (excluding Epilogue). Following his defeat of Voldemort, Harry finds the pressures of his even greater celebrity unbearable, and decides he needs to leave wizarding Britain. His best and truest friend makes him promise to return someday. H/Hr
Post HBP. While researching for methods to destroy Horcruxes, Hermione finds a ritual that may also help her with her personal life. The result is eyeopening for more than one member of the trio.
Post HBP. Harry’s quest to find the Horcruxes and defeat Voldemort as told through a series of letters to Ginny. Absence may make the heart grow fonder, but extended absence can also make a couple drift away from each other.
One Shots (1 or 2 chapters)
Hermione’s explanation of the inscriptions on the tombstones in Godric’s Hollow leads Harry to want something similar for Dobby’s tombstone. Which leads to a revelation that changes the course of the story.
Set during Book 6. Harry begins to see Hermione in a different light as a result of their first Potions lesson and the comments she makes prior to the quidditch tryouts. But things never go smoothly for Harry Potter. H/Hr
Tales From 6th Year will be a series of one shot stories that take place, not surprisingly, during Book 6. Two are written so far, and I have ideas for two more. They will be unrelated to each other, and will be roughly canon compatible until the start of each story.
In A Revealing Rendezvous (first published in 2010), Harry is caught off guard when Hermione and Ron introduce him to a surprising practice among Hogwarts prefects, which causes him to look at one of his best friends in an entirely different way. H/Hr
Another one from the files, originally written in 2009.
It takes place during Book 7. A series of dreams following the encounter with Nagini on Christmas Eve has Harry rethinking the way he sees and acts toward Hermione. Things change as a result. H/Hr
This story, written in 2009, is the first of my 'Harry gets fed up with everything and leaves for Australia' stories. The only surprising thing, to me, is that it takes him seven years to say "Enough! I'm getting out of here!" This one takes the form of small additions to each book, which collectively lead to Harry and Hermione making the decision that it's time to go.
The unveiling of some scenes which were cut from the original drafts of the Harry Potter books puts the validity of the Epilogue in question. Read this additional material and learn how the story really ended. H/Hr
After seeing his son off on the Hogwarts Express, Harry wakes up in an unexpected place. And finds himself with more memories than ought to be possible. H/Hr
Set during Book 7. During the time she and Harry are alone in the tent, Hermione discovers a spell that could be extremely useful against Voldemort. But it’s considered to be even worse than Unforgiveables. Does Harry dare use it?
The war's over! Voldemort has been defeated! But now back at Hogwarts for his final year, Harry finds things aren't quite what he'd hoped, as his best friends have found other attachments, leaving him by himself. Mostly AU after Book 5.
A little bit of fluff for Christmas. By coincidence, this was first posted at Christmas time almost exactly three years ago.
If you go by number of reviews, this is my most popular one-shot story, with nearly 400 so far on ff.net. But I suspect that's primarily because so many readers wanted to weigh in with their preference on the multiple choice endings.
A light-hearted one-shot in which Hermione demolishes one of the most annoying clichés in Harry Potter fanfiction. Features delusional Ron and Ginny.
Another What If? story, set in Year 4. What if the lead up to the Yule Ball played out just a little bit differently? One thing leads to another, and Harry’s life becomes much less stressful. H/Hr
Facing a milestone in their lives, Harry and Hermione look back at the choices they made, and the things they would change if they could go back and do it over. Then they receive a tempting offer. Fully canon compatible.
What if Sirius didn’t fall through the veil at the Department of Mysteries in OOTP? An altered sequence of events leads to a much more pleasant summer for Harry. And a marriage contract?
Post DH. A tale of what might have happened after the final battle that might have explained the lack of interaction between Harry and Hermione in the scene at the Hogwarts Expres in the epilogue of Book 7.
And what might have happened instead.
Post HBP. At Bill and Fleur's wedding, Hermione and Ginny have a conversation about a certain green-eyed wizard who is near and dear to both their hearts. They come to a surprising conclusion. Told from Hermione’s point of view.
